Deira is the older commercial side of Dubai, on the northern side of the Creek and across the water from Bur Dubai. The Gold Souk and Spice Souk are in Al Ras, Naif has its own traditional souq, and the Al Ghurair Centre and Deira City Centre anchor the shopping. Hotels line the Corniche and the Creek. Streets are busy and the bridges towards Bur Dubai fill up at rush hour, so the pickup spot you choose matters as much as the time.

Deira to and from the airport

Arriving at DXB

Landing at DXB, give us the terminal (Terminals 1, 2 and 3, with Emirates at Terminal 3), your flight number, the landing date and time in UAE time and the exact hotel or building in Deira. We follow the flight status, so a delay moves the pickup with it. The driver meets you in the arrivals area holding a name board, and 30 minutes of free waiting time is included. Deira is on the airport's side of the Creek, so the journey does not need one of the Creek bridges, but the older districts are busy, so the entrance you name matters.

Leaving for your flight

For a flight from DXB, tell us the flight time and the time you want to be collected, in UAE time, together with the hotel or building and a map pin. Check your airline's own advice for when to be at the airport, then give us the pickup time you decide on. Older Deira streets can be congested, so mention any entrance limits, such as a rear service door or an office gate. If you are coming from a souk trip, say where you will wait. A return arrival can be quoted at the same time.

Flying from Al Maktoum International (DWC)

Al Maktoum International (DWC) is in Dubai South, near Jebel Ali, on the opposite side of Dubai from Deira. DXB is the usual choice from here, but if your airline flies from DWC we quote that transfer in the same way: send the flight number, the date and time in UAE time and your hotel or building. Check the airport code on your ticket first, as DXB and DWC are in different parts of the city. Transfers run in both directions.

Pickup and drop-off tips for Deira

Market lanes are not pickup points

The Gold Souk and Spice Souk are a tangle of lanes and shop fronts where a car has few places to stop. Pick a hotel entrance or a clear main-road corner close to the market, say which side of the road you will stand on, and send a map pin. The name of a souk alone covers several blocks, so the pin does the real work.

Corniche and Creek hotels

Name the hotel in full, and the entrance you will use if it has more than one, for example the Corniche side or the street side. Hyatt Regency Dubai sits on the Deira Corniche and Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek is on the Creek. Either way, the main hotel entrance is the simplest meeting point, and the front desk can tell you where cars wait.

Apartment and office blocks

Streets in central Deira, around Al Rigga and Al Muraqqabat, are lined with similar blocks. Give the building name, the street and the nearest landmark, such as the Al Rigga or Union metro station or the Al Ghurair Centre, plus the floor or unit if you are collected from an office. A phone number that is answered on arrival saves the most time.

Heading to the airport with shopping

If you finish a day at the souks or the Al Ghurair Centre and go straight to a flight, say where you will be standing with your bags and how many there are. Drivers can handle large cases, but they need a place where it is safe to stop, so a hotel forecourt or a main-road corner works better than a lane inside the market.

Finishing at the abra landing

The Deira Old Souk abra station, near the Spice Souk, is where abra passengers from Bur Dubai step ashore. It is a waterfront landing, so a car cannot wait on it. Name a hotel entrance or a main-road corner close by as the pickup, send a map pin and tell us how many bags you have. If you are on the Bur Dubai side and want the airport, say which bank of the Creek you are on when you ask for the quote, because the route is different.

Which vehicle suits a Deira transfer?

Pairs and solo travellers fit a sedan (Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima class, up to 3 passengers with 2 large bags), which is also easier to place in the tighter streets around the souks. Families returning from the shops with bags usually need an SUV (Toyota Prado or GMC Yukon class, up to 5 passengers with 4 large bags). A luxury executive car (Mercedes-Benz S-Class class, up to 3 passengers) suits business guests. Groups of 6 to 14 can take a van (Toyota Hiace class), and 15 or more need a mini bus or coach, so tell us the hotel and the number of passengers. Models are 'or similar', confirmed with your quote.

I am in an apartment near Al Rigga or Union. What do you need?

The building name, the street and the nearest landmark, such as the metro station or the Al Ghurair Centre. Blocks sit close together in these districts, so the name matters more than the area.

Is the metro a better option than a private car from Deira?

The Red Line stops at City Centre Deira, Al Rigga and Union, and has stations at Airport Terminals 1 and 3. A private car is easier with heavy luggage, a group or a very early flight, because it collects you from the hotel entrance.
