Dubai Islands is Nakheel's name for a group of five islands off the coast of Deira, known until 2022 as Deira Islands. Hotels such as Hotel RIU Dubai are open on the beachfront, while Nakheel lists other projects, including Rixos Hotel and Residences and Bay Villas, as under construction. A hotel name is enough for an open property. For anything still being built, a WhatsApp pin does the work that a finished address cannot.

Dubai Islands to and from the airport

Arriving at DXB

Landing at DXB for Dubai Islands, send the terminal (Terminals 1, 2 or 3; Emirates uses Terminal 3), your flight number, the landing date and time in UAE time, the number of passengers and bags, and the hotel or project name. The driver meets you in the arrivals area holding a name board, the team follows the flight's status, and 30 minutes of free waiting time is included. Nakheel describes the Infinity Bridge as the link between the islands and the city, and the driver chooses the route that suits traffic on the day. For a newly opened or unfinished project, send a pin before you fly. You receive a quote first, and the team then confirms the arrangements.

Leaving for your flight

For a flight out of Dubai Islands, give the hotel or project, the lobby or gate where you will wait, the flight time and terminal, and the pickup time you want in UAE time. Choose that time from your airline's own check-in advice, since we plan around the time you ask for. Hotel guests should arrange for bags to be at the entrance. Anyone leaving a site that is still being built should confirm with the site team where a car may stop. A return trip can be quoted in the same message as the arrival.

Flying from Al Maktoum International (DWC)

Dubai Islands lies off Deira, in the north-east of the emirate, while Al Maktoum International (DWC) is in Dubai South, towards Jebel Ali, at the opposite end of Dubai. Many itineraries use DXB, but some airlines fly from DWC, so check the airport code on your ticket. If it reads DWC, put that in your first message with the flight number and time in UAE time, and the team quotes the trip separately. If you arrive at one airport and leave from the other, ask for both in one request.

Pickup and drop-off tips for Dubai Islands

Open hotels: the full name and the lobby

Hotels listed as operating on the islands include Hotel RIU Dubai, whose own site places it on the beachfront of Dubai Islands, Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai and Park Regis by Prince Dubai Islands. Give the full name from your reservation and ask the front desk to have your bags at the main entrance at the pickup time you set. If you are visiting a guest, say which hotel and ask them to meet the driver at the lobby.

Sites still being built: send a pin

Nakheel lists Rixos Hotel and Residences and Bay Villas as under construction, and a project that is still being built has no finished street address. If you are visiting a development, send the project and developer name from your appointment, plus a WhatsApp pin from the entrance the site team gave you. If a barrier controls the entrance, tell us the name it expects, so the car is not held at the gate.

Beach days: name the entrance, not the beach

Nakheel describes long stretches of beach along the islands, so the words the beach can cover a very large area. Name the hotel or the car park you will be at, and send a pin from that spot. If you will have beach bags, a pram or sports kit, mention them in the request so the right vehicle is quoted.

Mention the island if your paperwork does

Nakheel names five islands, Central, Marina, Shore, Golf and Elite, and says interconnected bridges link them. A brochure or sales offer may use one of those names. If yours does, put it in the message next to the project or hotel name. If it does not, the name and a pin are enough for the dispatcher to place you.

Palm Deira, Deira Islands, Dubai Islands

Wikipedia traces the project from Palm Deira in 2004 to Deira Islands in 2013, and says Nakheel renamed it Dubai Islands in 2022. Some hotel pages still use the old name: Hotel RIU Dubai's address line reads Deira Islands, while the same page places the hotel on Dubai Islands. Older articles, rental listings and map labels may also use it. If your paperwork says Deira Islands, it most likely means this island group and not the Deira district on the mainland. Send the hotel name and a pin, and the dispatcher will place it.

Which vehicle suits a Dubai Islands transfer?

A sedan (Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima class) takes up to 3 passengers with 2 large bags and suits a couple on a beach break. A family with suitcases and beach gear usually wants an SUV (Toyota Prado or GMC Yukon class), which takes up to 5 passengers with 4 large bags. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class class executive car seats up to 3 and suits a business guest. Groups sharing a hotel can use a Toyota Hiace class van with 6 to 14 seats, and parties of 15 or more can ask about a mini bus or coach. Models are shown as or similar, and the final vehicle is confirmed with your quote.

My booking says Deira Islands. Is that the same as Dubai Islands?

Yes, the islands were renamed Dubai Islands in 2022 and some hotels still use the earlier name. It is not the Deira district on the mainland, so send the hotel name and a location pin with your request.

Can you collect me from a development that is still under construction?

Yes, when a car can reach the point you give. Send the project name, the developer and a pin from the entrance the site team gave you, and tell us the name the gate will expect. The team confirms the plan with your quote.

Which airport suits Dubai Islands, DXB or DWC?

The airport on your ticket decides. DXB is in the east of the city and DWC is in Dubai South, towards Jebel Ali. We quote either one, and both can go in a single request if your flights differ.

Can I be collected from the beach?

Yes. Name the hotel or car park you will be at and send a pin, because the beaches run a long way along the islands. Mention beach bags and prams when you ask for the quote.
