Al Raffa Airport Transfers

A private car between Al Raffa and Dubai International (DXB) or Al Maktoum International (DWC) starts with a short message or a phone call. Give your building or hotel, flight number and the date and time in UAE time, and a tailored quote comes back. Flight tracking means a pickup at arrivals shifts with the real landing, and the driver stands in the arrivals area with a name board.

Al Raffa, also spelled Al Rifa, is a largely residential part of Bur Dubai, with banks, restaurants and shopping centres such as Al Khaleej Centre. Al Souk Al Kabir lies to the north, Al Hudaiba to the south, Port Rashid to the west and Al Mankhool to the east. Most pickups here are from apartment blocks and small hotels rather than landmark towers, so the exact building name, the street and the nearest landmark matter more than the area name.

Al Raffa to and from the airport

Arriving at DXB

DXB lies across Dubai Creek from Al Raffa, so the car crosses the water. Please send the terminal (DXB has Terminals 1, 2 and 3; Emirates uses Terminal 3), your flight number, the landing date and time in UAE time, and the building or hotel with its street. The team follows the flight status, so a late landing moves the pickup. Your driver holds a name board in arrivals, and 30 minutes of free waiting time is included. If a friend or relative will be at the building, put their phone number on the quote too.

Dubai International (DXB) guide

Leaving for your flight

For a flight from DXB, give the flight time, the pickup time you want in UAE time, and the building name, street and entrance. Airlines set their own advice on when to arrive, so check yours before you decide. Residential blocks can have more than one entrance, so say which one faces the road the car should use, and add a UAE phone number. If several households leave from one building, list everyone in a single message with the number of bags, and the team can suggest a suitable vehicle. A return arrival can be quoted alongside the outward trip.

DWC

Flying from Al Maktoum International (DWC)

Al Maktoum International (DWC) is in Dubai South, on the far side of the emirate from this part of Bur Dubai. For a DWC flight, ask for the quote early with the airline, flight number, date and time in UAE time, and your building. The airport code is printed on your ticket; check it, since DXB and DWC are different airports. A tailored quote comes first, and the team confirms the arrangements afterwards.

Local know-how

Pickup and drop-off tips for Al Raffa

Name the building, not the district

Al Raffa is mostly residential, so many pickups are from apartment buildings that stand close together. Send the building name, the street, whether the entrance faces the main road or a side street, and a map pin. If a nearby building has a similar name, add a landmark such as Al Khaleej Centre so the driver can tell them apart.

Flats, floors and reception desks

If you are in a flat rather than a hotel, include the floor, the flat number and a phone number that works in the UAE. A building with a reception or security desk may ask who is collecting you, so give the driver the name on the quote. Tell us if you will be coming down with young children or several large cases.

Say which metro station you pass

Al Ghubaiba and Sharaf DG are Green Line stations at the older end of Bur Dubai, and Sharaf DG was called Al Fahidi until November 2020. Naming the station you would use helps the driver work out which side of Al Raffa you are on. It does not replace the building name and a pin, which should still go in the message.

Shopping-centre pickups

If you are collected from a shopping centre or office block, such as Al Khaleej Centre, tell us the entrance you will use and the floor you are leaving from. Choose a point that is easy to describe by phone, such as a named door or the corner of a named street, rather than somewhere in the middle of a car park.

Vehicles

Which vehicle suits a Al Raffa transfer?

A sedan (Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima class, up to 3 passengers with 2 large bags) fits a couple or a solo traveller leaving a flat. Households with children and several cases are better in an SUV (Toyota Prado or GMC Yukon class, up to 5 passengers with 4 large bags). A van (Toyota Hiace class) takes 6 to 14 passengers, which suits an extended family or friends leaving the same building, and groups of 15 or more need a mini bus or coach. Business guests can ask for the luxury executive car (Mercedes-Benz S-Class class, up to 3 passengers). Models are 'or similar' and confirmed with your quote.

Questions

Al Raffa transfer questions

Something else? Ask us on WhatsApp and include your flight or pickup time.

Is Al Raffa the same as Al Rifa?

Yes, the district is written both ways. Wikipedia titles its article Al Rifa and gives Al Raffa as the other spelling. Either name works for a quote, but the street name and a map pin matter more.

Is Port Rashid part of Al Raffa?

No. Port Rashid lies on the western side of Al Raffa and is a separate place. If you are staying there, for example on the Queen Elizabeth 2, say so and send a pin.

My building is on the border with Al Mankhool. Which district do I name?

Either one will do. Al Mankhool is on the eastern side of Al Raffa, so what helps most is the building name, the street and a map pin, from which the team plans the pickup.

How should I describe a flat in a residential block?

Send the building name, the floor, the flat number, the street and a phone number that works in the UAE. If the block has a reception desk, say whose name the driver should give.
