Al Fahidi Airport Transfers

If you need a private car between Al Fahidi and Dubai International (DXB) or Al Maktoum International (DWC), message or call with the name of your guesthouse, hotel or gallery, your flight number and the date and time in UAE time. The team answers with a tailored quote. Because the flight is tracked, an arrival pickup follows the actual landing, and the driver waits in the arrivals area with a name board.

Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood was known as Al Bastakiya until its restoration in 2005. Restored courtyard houses stand along narrow, winding lanes, and many now hold galleries, cafes, a coffee museum and a few small hotels. Businesses inside the quarter often give a house number as part of their address, and the roads around it, such as Al Fahidi Street and Al Musallah Street, work differently for a car than the lanes do. Settling the meeting point is the first job.

Al Fahidi to and from the airport

Arriving at DXB

DXB lies across Dubai Creek from the quarter, so the journey crosses the water. Tell us the terminal (Terminals 1, 2 and 3; Emirates uses Terminal 3), your flight number, the landing date and time in UAE time, and the guesthouse or hotel, with its house number if it has one. The team watches the flight, so a late landing shifts the pickup. Your driver waits in arrivals with a name board, and 30 minutes of free waiting time is included. The last stretch may be on foot, so mention large bags or young children and we will plan the meeting road around them.

Dubai International (DXB) guide

Leaving for your flight

For a flight from DXB, give the flight time, the pickup time you would like in UAE time, the house number or hotel name and a map pin of the meeting road. Each airline sets its own advice on when to arrive, so read yours before choosing the time. If you stay in a guesthouse inside the quarter, agree the meeting road the day before and tell your host where the car will wait. A UAE phone number on the quote lets the driver reach you at a numbered house. If you need the way back too, the return arrival can be quoted with the outward trip.

DWC

Flying from Al Maktoum International (DWC)

Al Maktoum International (DWC) is in Dubai South, a cross-city journey from the old town by the Creek. If your flight leaves from DWC, ask for the quote early and send the airline, flight number, date and time in UAE time, and your pickup house or hotel. Your ticket shows the airport code, so check it first, because DXB and DWC are in different parts of Dubai. Either way, a tailored quote comes first and the team then confirms the arrangements.

Pickup and drop-off tips for Al Fahidi

Send the house number

Several places inside the quarter list a house number in their address. The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, for example, gives House 26, Al Musallah Street. If you are staying in or visiting a numbered house, send the number, the name of the house or business and a map pin. Lanes that look alike are hard to tell apart from a driver's seat, and a number settles it.

Bags and the walk to the car

A guesthouse in the lanes can mean walking with your bags to wherever the car is able to wait. Tell us how many cases you have, and whether anyone in the group finds walking a distance difficult, so the team can plan the meeting point as close as is sensible. For a night or pre-dawn departure, keep your phone on with a UAE number on the quote, because the driver will call when they reach the agreed road.

Hotels on Al Fahidi Street

Not every address here is inside the lanes. Arabian Courtyard Hotel & Spa gives its address as Al Fahidi Street, opposite the Dubai Museum, so a driver can look for it on the road itself. Check whether your hotel stands on a street or is tucked inside the quarter, and tell us which. A guest in a heritage house with a courtyard needs a different meeting point from a guest at a hotel with a front door on the road.

Collected after a tour or a meal

The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding runs cultural meals and tours in the quarter. If your day ends there, or at a gallery or museum, tell us the finish time and the road you will walk back to, and we plan the pickup around the time you give. A heritage meal can overrun, so message the team on WhatsApp if your plans shift.

Good to know

Four things called Al Fahidi

The name covers more than one place. Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood is the restored quarter of courtyard houses, called Al Bastakiya before 2005. Al Fahidi Street is a road beside it, where Arabian Tea House and Arabian Courtyard Hotel & Spa give their addresses. Al Fahidi Fort houses the Dubai Museum. The Green Line metro station beneath Khalid bin Waleed Road and Al Mankhool Road carried the Al Fahidi name until it became Sharaf DG on 24 November 2020, and some guidebooks still use the old name. When you ask for a quote, say which of the four you mean and add a map pin.

Vehicles

Which vehicle suits a Al Fahidi transfer?

A sedan (Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima class, up to 3 passengers with 2 large bags) suits one or two guests in a guesthouse, and a smaller car is simpler to place on the roads around the quarter. Visitors with strollers or several cases are better in an SUV (Toyota Prado or GMC Yukon class, up to 5 passengers with 4 large bags). Business guests can ask for the luxury executive car (Mercedes-Benz S-Class class, up to 3 passengers). Tour groups of 6 to 14 fit a van (Toyota Hiace class), and 15 or more need a mini bus or coach. Models are 'or similar' and confirmed with your quote.

Questions

Al Fahidi transfer questions

Something else? Ask us on WhatsApp and include your flight or pickup time.

What should I send if my guesthouse has a house number but no street address?

Send the house number, the name of the house and a map pin. Places in the quarter, including the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, use house numbers in their addresses, and a driver can match a number faster than a description of the lanes.

My guidebook says to use the Al Fahidi metro station. Which station is that now?

It is Sharaf DG on the Green Line, renamed on 24 November 2020. Use the current name when you tell us where you are, and send a pin if you would rather have a car.

Can a car collect me after a cultural meal or tour at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding?

Yes, an address in the quarter can be quoted like any other. Give the finish time of your programme and the road you will walk to, and message the team if the schedule changes.

I am walking between Al Fahidi and Al Seef. Where do I meet the driver?

Al Seef is the creekside promenade next to the quarter, and its hotels have their own entrances. A promenade is made for walking, so choose a street or hotel entrance close to it and send a pin.
